  1. What is the automated Global Positioning System?

The Vehicle Identification Positioning System locates the position of a target vehicle through a satellite receiver. The GPS system has 24 satellites in orbit around the earth. In order to be able to estimate one's position, speed, direction or altitude, signals must be received through the satellite receiver from as many GPS system satellites as possible. After the necessary calculations have taken place, these must be transmitted to the monitoring centre through a communication channel such as the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM).
  1. How precise is the tracking system?

This particular satellite receiver is a new technology 12-channel receiver, which means that it can obtain information from 12 satellites at the same time and thus increase the precision with which it estimates your position. Previously receivers had 4, 6 or 8 channels and a precision range of 100 metres. With the 12-channel receiver precision is improved, narrowing the range down to 20 metres.
  1. What functions are supported by my mobile phone?

All functions are supported by the mobile phone excepting memory readout and software updates. The functions activated to date are the operation of its 5 digital outputs and reception of a geographical fix (longitude, latitude, speed and direction).
  1. How do I activate and deactivate the device?

The VIPS device can be controlled via the vehicle's alarm system, if any. In this way, the user won't need to carry an extra key. If no alarm system has been installed, then users will have to be equipped with an i-button, which is a high security key whose code is unique among 281 trillion codes.
  1. What is the 1-wire network?

It is a two-wire network through which 1-wire devices communicate and receive data. These devices can be various sensors, switches, transducers, screens, etc. It is a very useful network because with a simple double cable one can extend and enrich VIPS potential safely and precisely.
  1. Which telephone numbers can I use?

Regarding VGP10A the driver can only dial a specific predetermined number. Of course, this number can always be changed, with the help of the appropriate software at the control centre or via the serial port. Regarding VGP20A the driver can choose among a number of pre-selected telephone numbers.
